Dr. Fletcher Tink, specialist in urban ministries and director of Bresee Institute for Metro Ministries, wraps up two weeks of teaching “Theology of Compassion” a course offered to Ph.D Students in the school’s Holistic Child Development Program at APNTS. The course is a core elective in the HCD program and provides a meaningful theological framework for the degree.

The course included trips to compassion-driven organizations such as International Justice Mission, a law-firm that specializes in bringing justice to under-represented social and economic groups, and a non-profit organization called, “Tahanan Walang Hagdan (Tagalog: House without Stairs), which provides industrial employment to people with disabilities.

The Ph.D. in HCD is a multi-year, inter-disciplinary, research-oriented degree that builds on an earned master’s degree. The program exists to equip leaders, teachers, child advocates, practitioners, and pastors who have the gifts, skill, and capacity to care holistically for children inside and outside the church.
