On Wednesday, October 11, 2017, APNTS hosted a contextual ministry symposium titled, “Crossing Borders: Cultural and Missional Ideas.” The keynote speaker was Dr. Melba Padilla-Maggay, a writer and social anthropologist, who is also the co-founder and current President of the Institute for Studies in Asian Church and Culture.
Dr. Maggay is highly regarded and respected in her field, both in Asia and around the world. She is a frequent speaker and expert in both local and international conferences. She is the author of several books including Transforming Society, essays reflecting on the Kingdom and politics, which has been published globally and translated into other languages. She has been bestowed with numerous literary prizes and awards, and is connected with more than 600 developmental organizations worldwide.
Topics addressed in this gathering by Dr. Maggay and other distinguished speakers included, “Christ and Buddha,” “Confessing Christ in the Islamic Context,” “Who is Jesus for Asian Women,” and “Jesus Christ in Popular Piety in the Philippines.”
Several key leaders from the Asia-Pacific Region were in attendance, along with students, faculty & staff of APNTS.
