Bartle Returns to APNTS to Teach “Folk Religions”

folk_religion_1Leading expert in oral/tribal societies, Dr. Neville Bartle, once again joins APNTS to offer the course “Folk Religions.” Bartle presently serves as the district superintendent of New Zealand District Church of the Nazarene and comes from a rich background of experience. He served as a missionary in Papua New Guinea for 32 years as well as several years in Fiji. This is Bartle’s 5th time teaching the course at APNTS.

The course take and in-depth look at the cultures of Asia and the Pacific which are build upon a “folk” or animistic understanding of the world around them. This course aims to develop a biblical understanding of the spirit world and emphasizes the importance for Christians to be able to relate to the people within such contexts.

“Folk Religions” is a two week course and includes 19 students from a wide range of cultures including Papua New Guinea, Korea, the Philippines, China, Myanmar, and India.
