Location: Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary Inc. Ortigas Ave Ext, Dolores (Pob.) 1920, Taytay, Rizal, CALABARZON, Region 4A

Job Type: Full-time

Reports To: Finance Manager

Job Overview: The Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing the seminary’s financial records, processing financial transactions, and maintaining accurate financial data. This role plays a key part in ensuring the seminary’s financial health and compliance with applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting or bookkeeping, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a faith-based environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Recordkeeping:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for all seminary accounts.

  • Record all financial transactions, including income, expenses, donations, and tuition payments.

  • Reconcile accounts on a regular basis to ensure accuracy.

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payment.

  • Monitor tuition and donation receivables, following up on overdue payments as needed.

Payroll Processing:

  • Assist with payroll processing for staff and faculty, ensuring accurate compensation and tax withholdings.

Financial Reporting:

  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

  • Provide financial reports for seminary leadership, including budget-to-actual analysis.

Budgeting Assistance:

  • Support in creating and managing the seminary’s annual budget.

Tax Compliance:

  • Ensure timely filing of tax forms, including employee payroll taxes, 1099 forms, etc.

  • Assist with audits as required by seminary leadership or external auditors.

Fund Management:

  • Maintain accurate records of special funds, including donations, endowments, and grants.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably in a non-profit or religious organization setting.

  • Familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks, etc.).

  • Experience in payroll processing is a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with integrity and confidentiality.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with staff, faculty, and leadership.

Personal Characteristics:

  • A commitment to the mission and values of the seminary (preferably a strong Christian believer).

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

  • A strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Working Conditions:

  • Office hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, or flexible hours available.

  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required during busy periods (e.g., end of month, fiscal year-end).
