APNTS CELEBRATES “HERITAGE DAY”
APNTS began the celebration of its 27th birthday with a three-day event held on its campus. The first day was “Heritage Day,” a special day set aside to honor the school’s history and heritage. Students, faculty and honored guests heard an inspirational message from the school’s Vice President of Institutional Development, Dr. Ryu Doo-hyun. Dr. Hyun called the students and faculty of APNTS to continue in its great heritage of sharing the truth and hope of the gospel message throughout Asia and the Pacific.
Dr. Ryu visits the school along with a host of esteemed guests from South Korea. These guests come as representatives of their respective churches which have been instrumental in funding the completion of the school’s new facilities on the fourth floor of the Nielsen Center for Evangelism and Education (NCEE). The school’s administration presented plaques and special gifts to these distinguished guests as a gesture of gratitude. As a congratulatory gesture and a token of remembrance the guests offered printed towels to everyone in attendance.
Following the Services, APNTS President, Floyd T. Cunningham, joined Dr. Ryu to lead everyone in attendance in a historic ribbon-cutting ceremony, symbolically opening the newly finished facilities. After the ribbon was cut, faculty, administration, and guests, traveled from room to room, offering prayers of dedication and gratitude.
The fourth floor facilities will provide new office facilities for the Fairbanks International School of Communication (FISC) and the Donald Owens School of World Mission (DOSWM), as well as additional offices for partnering organizations. The Anjung Conference Center, stands as a centerpiece for the new fourth floor. The room will be fully-wired for video conferencing and other high-tech learning capabilities.
Dr. Cunningham commented that he was amazed at the speed and willingness for his Korean brothers and sisters to open their hearts (and their pocketbooks) to this great institution. He notes that the opening of this new facility is a great step forward, and an ability to expand our ministries not only to the Asia-Pacific Region but to the four-corners of the world.
