Jesus Christ Himself saved many through His blood and it is our chance to save one, too. Every drop of blood we give is significant to saving lives. Thus, the “Pataka mo Buhay ko” blood letting (blood donation) activity came about on October 19, 2011 at Nazareth Hall on the APNTS Campus in conjunction with the community strengthening project of APNTS and Korea Food for the Hungry, together with volunteers from International Christian Fellowship (ICF), Jesus Redeemer Christ Christian Ministry (JRCCM), Rowenas and Balagot communities, and students and instructors from ABE Computer College, Cainta. 28 donors successfully donated blood among 44 individuals who went through screening facilitated by the Philippines Red Cross that Wednesday morning.
The organizers made use of the whole Wednesday to promote a good and healthy lifestyle. Right after blood letting (donation) came film viewing at the Rowenas Chapel. Ptr. Evanessa Banduyang, worship coordinator and associate counselor of the Philippine Nazarene College (formerly LNBC), gave out her challenging message subsequently.
It was a day of mission, fun, and campaign for healthy living. As a celebration and declaration of the Lord’s goodness, a crusade-concert consequently took place, led by performers from ICF, youth and mothers from Rowenas, JRCCM, and All Asian Christian Music and Bible College (AACMBC). Bands, namely SELAH and NaCls (pronounced, “knuckles”), rocked the house as they sang their very own songs. Ptr. Jordan Escusa and Ptr. Sam Tamayo challenged the audience with words of exhortation and concluded the event with their song, “Will see you tomorrow.”
It was a day where the community was united in a mission to save lives, just as the Lord did when He shed His blood at the cross for humanity. In our own little way, we can save some—or at least one. It was a day when the Lord Jesus Christ was made known to the community and beyond.
Truly, there is power in the blood!
