APNTS alumnus and current Adjunct Faculty Dr. Oh, Won Keun returned to the Philippines on July 14-27 to teach a 2-week module entitled Second Temple Jewish Literature. The course reviewed various exegetical strategies in the corpus of Jewish literature during this period that were utilized by the ancient authors in an attempt to advance polemic interests of their own situations. In doing this, the course also focused on questions of authoritative status of the biblical and/or extra-biblical text during the period.

The class had 20 enthusiastic students from South Korea, China, Myanmar, Japan, Pakistan and the Philippines. Aside from his outgoing personality and academic excellence in teaching, his fame is further intensified by being known to treat his students with food.

Although it has been four years since Dr. Oh last visited the campus, he actually teaches a class for APNTS once a year. In the last three years, he taught in APNTS’ off-site centers in Myanmar and two other CAA countries. He plans to continue to serve APNTS in this capacity.

Prior to moving back to Korea in 2007 to serve as the senior pastor of Daekwang Church of the Nazarene, Dr. Oh served at APNTS as professor of Old Testament for four years, immediately upon finishing his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Manchester (through Nazarene Theological College). Although he feels that he is called to full-time pastoral ministry right now, his passion to equip ministers of the kingdom through theological education remains. His wife and three grown children are in Korea with him.
