A historic occasion took place at APNTS on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, with the dedication of The Wesley Room, the new home of the Donald Owens School of World Missions. Named after the first president of APNTS, the Donald Owens School of World Missions was officially started in 2004, and we are now in a period of revitalizing its vision and purpose. Taking part in the dedication ceremony were current President, Dr. Bruce Oldham, Missiology Professor, Dr. Lynn Shmidt, visiting dignitaries Regional Director, Dr. Mark Louw, Regional Education Coordinator, Dr. John Moore, Chancellor at Southeast Asia Nazarene Bible College (SEANBC), Dr. Bill Kwon, and several District Superintendents from the Asia Pacific Region.

During the April 24th chapel service, Dr. Shmidt shared the renewed vision and vigor for a cross-cultural mission at APNTS. The Wesley Room will establish an identity on the campus for those students who have served as missionaries, and for those following God’s calling into cross-cultural ministry. It is a place to recognize our common calling and to share experiences, ideas, and interests in mission issues.

In the coming year, there will be regularly scheduled speakers and discussions on contemporary and contextual matters that affect missions in Asia. All of APNTS will benefit from the Donald Owens School of World Mission through the annual lecture series and other events.

We thank God for His providence, and we are also grateful to a group of donors (including Donald Owens) that have made it possible to give a minor remodel to the room. The Wesley Room is located on the 4h floor of the NCEE building. We welcome you to visit; it is our prayer that you will feel your heart strangely warmed, just as John Wesley himself experienced during a time of spiritual awakening.
